Our History

The QUT United Nations Student Association held its first AGM in June 2016. Model UN had fallen out of popularity at QUT and the existing International Relations Student Association was but a shadow of its former self. Hoping to restore the university’s love of debate, diplomacy, and Model UN, a group of law students formed the QUT United Nations Student Association on top of the existing IRSA and set to work bringing QUT back to the forefront of the national community.

With a new executive committee and a new constitution, the UNSA immediately set about planning a new year of events and rebuilding the Association’s infrastructure. In that time the Association has since hosted three networking events, a joint Ball and Pub Crawl, and a number of smaller events.

In the two years since its refounding, the QUT UNSA has been one of QUT’s fastest growing associations. Forming strong connections with other QUT societies and reaching out to neighbouring institutions, the club has endeavoured to provide the QUT community with the tools they need to excel in the international workforce.

The future of the UNSA is a bright one, with new plans to refocus the Association’s resources into professional development and industry networking, the QUT UNSA plans on becoming one of the powerhouses of QUT Campus Life.
